Laylat Al-Qadr – Night Of Power Retreat

June 21, 2017 @ 8:30 pm - June 22, 2017 @ 4:30 am

As salaam alaykum dear brothers and sisters,

Laylatul Qadr will be observed at sundown Wednesday night, June 21st, (inshallah) inline with SSC’s estimation of the day, following in the tradition that Sidi has set for determining the start of Ramadan and citing the day.

The Sufi Center Austin warmly welcomes you to a community evening khalwa beginning with Iftar, regular and Tarawih prayers. Please join us at All Faiths Chapel

Details:

Where: All Faiths Chapel, located on grounds of Austin State Hospital: 4110 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78751
When: June 21, 2017
8:00 PM – registration
8:36 PM – Iftar (break fast)
8:45 PM – Maghrib (twilight prayer)
9:55 PM – Isha’a Prayer —followed by Tarawih. Khalwa begins immediately following Tarawih prayers
4:35 AM – Suhoor (morning meal at your home; or you’re welcome to bring your breakfast)
5:11 AM – Fajr prayer (begins your fast)
Iftar will be potluck, please bring something for our meal. We’ll break fast and then pray Maghrib, dine, then pray Isha’a. The khalwa will start when the food has been cleaned up and put away. After the khalwa begins, only liquids are permitted —

Iftar:

Dates and water (provided)
Spaghetti with marinara (provided)
Coffee and cream
There will be water, coffee and tea available during the night. If you have a preference for a particular tea please plan on bringing it… and maybe a little more to share.

The chapel has plenty of chairs; some back-jacks and prayer rugs will be available. The floor is hard and you may want something more comfortable between you and it. Prayers throughout the night include ample time for individual praying, dhikr, and Qur’an reflection.

The requested sacrifice (donation) for the khalwa is $250.00 to help the poor ( Allah knows what is right for you, to help your walking. If you cannot give $250, please give what you can). Cash or Checks are preferred and we will have credit card slips at the registration table (payable to “SSC”). Our guide, Sidi, asks for a list of people participating (there or at home), therefore please make sure your name is on the registration sheet that night.

Any donations to the “Home of Dhikr” (sadaqah) are separate from the requested sacrifice. Sadaqah can be given in cash, check or credit card slip, made out to “ SCA” and put in the donations box (clearly marked “ Sadaqah”) at the entry. These donations are vital to programs such as this all night Khalwa and to the overall continuing success of the community.

Eid al Fitr is days away. We’ll be accepting Zakat al- Fitr, usually $10 to $20.00 per person (Sidi has been asking for $20) which is the sacrifice given for yourself and each member of your family.

If you wish to give locally, North Austin Muslim Community Center has a donation page online: https://us.mohid.co/tx/austin/namcc/masjid/online/donation<https://us.mohid.co/tx/austin/namcc/masjid/online/donation>
Many blessings are wished for you on this holy night,
on behalf of
Mohamed and Abdullah
